Radio talk show legend Rush Limbaugh has passed away after a year-long battle with stage four lung cancer. His wife, Kathyrn Limbaugh, made the announcement during his radio show Wednesday morning.

The Rush Limbaugh Show started in 1988 and became the most listened to radio show in the U.S. At its peak, the show recorded more than 15 million listeners. The conservative radio show host was a pioneer in the industry.
Limbaugh was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2020 by President Trump. While responding to the news, President Trump shared some kind words about his first time meeting the famous radio personality.
“He was just a very brave guy, amazing, and he came in and, as he told me, it was the greatest honor of his life,” he stated. “…Half of that room went crazy, you remember that evening very well I’m sure, it was a very unique moment in our country’s history in a sense because of who Rush is…100 percent of that room respected Rush.”

Rush Limbaugh is survived by his wife. He was 70-years-old.
